dressed up like a lady: All hands on deck.

Jul 9, 2008

All hands on deck.

Part cruise director, part stewardess, this crazy vintage sailor top also feels a little like a costume out of a musical, preferably one that takes place in the posh Jazz Age, where I could dance clumsily in the chorus as Tennis Girl Number 4. Anyway, I tried to showcase the top's Broadway potential by enacting a few Gene Kelly style moves, but with minimal success. 'A' for effort, but there was no rain, I'm not a tap dancer, and Gene never had this kind of goofy expression on his face while he cut a rug.

Top: Vintage via the Getup
Tennis skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: Thrifted

  1. Ok, my heart seriously skipped a bit just now when I scrolled down and saw you in this amazing dress! It's so cute!! Obviously the sailor theme is very evident but I don't think it looks very costume-y...I love it and you look great in it! Your ring is really lovely too!

  3. Love this! Very fun.

I'd say it's more Gene Kelley in "Anchor's Aweigh" than "Singing in the Rain" though. Love the "A" for effort tap moves!

I love the nautical look, and it reminds me a bit of sailor moon, to be honest.. Maybe it's just the dork in me!

  5. Not only 'A' for effort, but also 'A' for style. For Cammila style. That's really a gorgeous and high-grade envious making dress.

  16. I love nautical outfits!! So jealous of that top. I used to have a white tennis skirt, but I gave it away when I cleaned out my closet. I hate it when you throw something out and end up wanting it back two weeks later. :(
