dressed up like a lady: Nancy Drew and the case of the high waisted shorts.

Jul 16, 2008

Nancy Drew and the case of the high waisted shorts.

I have a weird obsession with young adult novels from the 70's and 80's. I think it's because these book were already old and dated by the time I was looking at them on the shelves of my elementary school library, so now they seem doubly nostalgic. Anyway, a while back my boyfriend bought me a whole box of them, so I thought I'd put down the book I'm actually reading (Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk) and pull these dusty gems out for a little lawn reading.

Shorts: Thrifted
Top: Thrifted
Shoes: Tahari

  1. I love the shorts!

I'm not a fan of old books unless I've owned them from the very beginning.. The yellowed pages creep me out!

  5. i used to love books, but since my mum become a writer and she's even popular here, i can't read books with pleasure, i thought books are something special and i wasnt thinking that they're written by normal people, and now i see that everyone can write a book and it lose its magic. i hope that someday i'll stop think that way :)

(what about cupboards - the owner of them is the girl who made the party, not me, but i fell in love with her kitchen, it was so communist, like there nothing changed in 30 years - old cupboards, russian fridge, old polish stove and big, painted plates on walls, and it was great because it just was in that way, without any concrete style, i think they just didnt buy new furniture for so long)

    /D.

  12. You are just perfect! Your hairstyle makes an interesting contrast to beautifull, romantic vintage dresses you often wear. And your hole style is a very original and creative mix of different factors. I love it!

  26. Old books are divine... And Nancy Drew is a true legend! I hated her as she was way too perfect girl and too implausible. Still, I read almost all the books we have in the local library (and there are A LOT of them).
