dressed up like a lady: The wisdom of fables.

The wisdom of fables.

Today's post brought to you by this awesome 1970's Little Red Riding Hood lunchbox.

I picked it up at my favorite antique store/consignment shop and what I really love about it is that it doesn't appear to be promoting anything. Most lunchboxes feature characters to market a TV show or movie or something, but none of the copyright info on this box references any form of media at all -- it appears to be promoting the actual fairy tale. As if it were conceived by Hans Christian Andersen's marketing team.

Anyway, what interests me for this post's purposes are Red's shoes. These little blue flats with a high ankle strap and a wide opening and little bows.

Is it me, or do they strike an uncanny resemblance to these little MIA guys I picked up at UO last year?

Maybe it's just wishful thinking? A rendering of a folk heroine that accompanies my yogurt and fruit to work every day is worth envying.
