I did it for the floof.

This H&M dress was a size huge on me, but there was so much cheap, gauzy, dark fabric that it didn't seem to suffer much when I sewed a couple inches up the side-seam on either side. Incidentally, these shoes from the Getup were originally too small, but the local cobbler stretched them for me.
