Bonus round: Let's See It With Flats!!

In a post about true love last week, I mentioned that MC finds me the most glamorous when I'm at my most human. This is true in a deeply animalistic sense -- he is more adoring, protective, and turned on by me than ever when I'm completely at the mercy of my corporeal self, like when I'm screaming with giggles, sick on the couch, over full from dinner, or exhausted and asleep. This aspect of our relationship might be unexpected, since MC so consumingly loves and appreciates the sexiness of ornamental trappings. MC lights up for my smokey eye makeup, stylish clothes and sky-high heels; he is, after all, my own personal glamor photographer. And yet, despite being the dude who is so viscerally and creatively aroused by these decorations, he is even more moved when all of the embellishments, as well as the control that goes with them, are stripped away.

So it's actually not that surprising that MC always loves it when I switch into flats. He loves it even more when I'm barefoot. :)

Le sigh, Matt Collar.

I've said it before but it bares repeating: I didn't think love was like this before I met MC. I thought that love, like most things in life, was a slog through mediocrity. Then I was in the wedding of two kickass friends, who were in love in the kind of way I thought only existed in poisonous fiction, and my head exploded. It totally made me open up to what was out there for me. I consequently like seeing reflections of true love in life (or on the internet), and I hope I can provide something similar to anybody who's similarly inclined.

  1. I adore your styling in this: the red lips, big gold hoop earrings, tortoise glasses, and sleeked hair.

P.S. I think you are cheating with the flats photos since you are still standing on your tippytoes, haha! :)

    1. Haha, I was trying to balance my weight forward on that platform -- there's a 5 ft. drop behind it! :D

  2. I definitely do not think that there is good, open communication about love and relationships today. Everything about love is either from the point of view of corny romantic comedies or miserable "realistic" depictions where anybody who's married is basically supposed to hate their spouse. It is all sound bites! How about talking openly about real emotions? It's like everybody is afraid of going too deep into anything. So anyway, that is my way of saying that I really like it when you post about love. :)

    1. Thanks, Amanda! You mention the over simplification of love in the media, which is an interesting point. While I realize that my zealous joy can potentially read as idealized, I think it's worth noting that:

      1) the things I post about my relationship here are real. (Aside: If readers seriously want to know about the "bad days," they can ask for it, but it almost exclusively deals with the dramz of MC having an ex spouse. Which mostly just reinforces the team spirit between us anyway.) And
      2) at least from my own perspective, I did not experience any optimistic, long-form portrayal of real love in the media, before I had that cool experience of seeing my two friends posses the kind of love I had thought I'd been naive for wanting. As you allude to, positive depictions of love tend to be "sound bytes": romcom meet-cutes, and inspirational quotes on Pinterest. Personally, it made me really, really happy to see real love in real life, and obviously a blog isn't real life, but it's an attempt to snap-shot real life.

Anyway, that's my way of saying thanks for the comment. ;)

  3. I wish I could spend every moment of every day of my life and beyond with Cammila. Sure, we argue and have crabby moods, but I love her. I love being with her all the time. I'll take her angry or sick or sleepy or sweaty or stinky or whatever she's like. She's my best friend and confidante, creative partner, muse and lover. And she is real as real gets! We share everything together and go through everything, good and bad, together. I am IN LOVE with my wife in an active, visceral, spiritual way. I hope everyone finds that in there life. I'm sure as hell glad and will be forever grateful to the universe that I did.

  4. I like it with flats... and your hoop earrings that you didn't mention, are ironically what caught my eye first :)

As far as love goes... being exposed to so many posts and honest descriptions of how you and MC feel about each other (plus his comment above), I have really started believing with all my heart that you guys must be the perfect example of true and real love.... not just a painted picture where everything seems to work all the time and not the pessimistic picture where everyone in the end despises their spouse.... the perfection is somewhere else... I can totally see that :)

Bless you both! Yes it is great luck that you actually do find your "visceral, spiritual, creative" soulmate :)

  8. I am so completely thrilled for you! Tony and I have a flat out incredible kind of love, too. Finding a relationship like that really leaves one at a loss for words sometimes, because so much of the incredibleness of it exists in the silent, unbreaking bond that you share.

Fabulous pics and outfit - that skirt reminds me (in a totally great way) of Lego bricks scattered across a black rug).
