Almost back to normal

Sorry it's been so scant lately! We're used to being busy but these past couple weeks, it's been just ridiculous. Projects at work are in pre-holiday overdrive, we've had shows to play, the whole family's been going to year-end doctor and dentist appointments, the band's been preparing to go into the studio this weekend, and then we each got a wicked sinus infection, just to assure we're a little slow and dopey for all of this (more than usual, at least).

So here, enjoy this hilariously silly video that Alana from Flying Purple Hippos made for me (inspired by this even more ridiculous video I made of myself, trying awkwardly to fill Instagram's 15 second requirement for video.) We'll be back next week with more fun and games. Have a great weekend!

  2. Aw Kate, you don't have to be in exile! Honestly, I've been thinking about this: you and Brandon and Amanda and I just have a lot of verbal/text shorthand -- we've been interacting online for over ten years.

And aside from being more thoughtful about it in the future (since this is public), what is there to say? It's to be expected that we put each other's statements in personal context. I love you for being the poly, Burning Man loving babe you are -- clearly you're the last person who would actually suggest the letter of the law matters more than the spirit.

After that other comment came in, I could see how someone who doesn't know you could read your statement more literally, without the nuanced rhetoric I get from knowing your perspective. So yeah, it's a good idea for us to be more thoughtful about that in the future. But what else is new? The goal of communicating better seems damn near universal.

P.S. Since we spoke about the "personal info" thing, as far as I'm concerned that's totally resolved too. So don't banish yourself on account of me -- we're cool. :)

    1. Ack, I just realized that I implied in the text of this post that your video was "dumb!" I said "...inspired by this equally dumb video I made..." Way to prove my own point about being slow and out of it from this freaking sinus infection. Your vid is not dumb -- it is BADASS. I am the dumb one. Just to be clear.

    2. Hahaha, that's okay. I would say the Cheer Bear video is "dumb" in the best kind of way, anyway. :)

  4. Ugh, I am have been half-present too, so I totally know how you feel. All this lead-up to Christmas, with Thanksgiving so late and then there's this frantic present-buying and no one will give me a LIST and I have to pack all this STUFF or mail it out and Jason's family keeps changing the day they're doing family CHRISTMAS and I am so tired of feeling like every time I blink six hours have passed and I've gotten nothing done.

    Ugh.

    So I feel you.

I really fell out of the commenting groove, too! I've been clicking through blog posts, but it feels like I'm super-speed-reading because as soon as I finish, there's someone over my shoulder NEEDING something. Stupid life ;)

Ah, well. Hope you're all feeling better!

    1. RIGHT? Yeah, when life gets crazy, it can get pretty dang over the top. Every time I think I'm going to get something done over an upcoming weekend, I feel like an idiot afterward. Weekends fly by in a haze! Why would I think I could add to the heap? Heh, oh well, at least I know I'm not alone. :)
