dressed up like a lady: Kitty Cat Bowtie Earrings

Kitty Cat Bowtie Earrings

MC has my taste down COLD. These earrings were a Valentine's Day gift this year. Fucking delightful, I squealed like a schoolgirl.

As long as I'm posting about Valentine's Day (a month and a half later...): our office is a day-job haven for musicians and artists, so one of the best things about V-day is that we set up a table in the cafeteria every year with construction paper and glitter and stuff, and people spend their breaks making ridiculous cards for their friends and loved ones.

MC and I also printed some additional stuff to paste onto ours from our recent pantheon of romantic avatars. That's always a fun exercise when you get into a show or a movie, right? Who watched the Jonathan Rhys Myers Dracula show?! A cross between Coppola's 1992 Dracula, and Nicola freaking Tesla. So bonkers.

Anyway, MC also wrote me a poem about a bow tie he wore one fleeting night many years ago to an event we were at, hoping I would notice. To go with his bow tie themed gift! I loved it. He's a clever one.

For my part, I made MC another book. This one compiles all the sexy photos he's taken of me over the years. YEAH, I SAID IT! I don't want to live in a world where you can't play nude-model-and-photographer with your husband.*

Unfortunately, I can't show you anything other than the cover. Even I have limits for my oversharing. ;)

*Hopefully no reasonably intelligent person needs to be reminded of this, but this blog is sometimes about children, but it is not for children. This blog acknowledges adults as whole people, who can be sexual entities to each other, and be loving parents to their children. If something this natural, healthy and true were to bother someone with dogmatic or fanatically conservative ideas, well then I suppose I would just enjoy pissing them off.  ;P

P.S. There's still time to enter our giveaway for a $139 Jord watch!

  1. I so love your addendum at the end. I for one would be happy to see some more pictures from your book lol!!! ;)

Sex is a natural part of our selves. It is meant to be celebrated as a positive and not hidden away in a dark closet as a dirty secret just because you have kids. It is insane that there are people who think that artists and authors with kids can't be positive about sex in their work!! These are the people who are ashamed about sex in general so really we should feel sorry for them AND for the kids they're messing up. And usually the insecure people who think it's oh so immodest to celebrate adult sexuality amongst other adults are fine with showing their kids creepy Bratz type shows where YOUNG GIRLS are shown being sexual. Welcome to Opposite World, folks!

Kids should see that sex is a healthy part of the ADULT world, not be insidiously told that it is something for them to emulate in order to be pretty and cool before their hormones even kick in!! Sorry for the rant but this whole topic gets my goat. Brava to you for not being caught in those stupid traps.

  2. I had some earrings very similar to those! I wore them in college! Loving your vday gift as well. I have seen some of Dracula but we have at least 6 eps we haven't seen yet. It is a guilty pleasure.

    1. It only gets more and more ridiculous. I think you'll love it. :)

  3. It is not my intention to be critical regarding the nudity and sex and the adults. but in my opinion, there is nothing to be ashamed nor there is a reason to explain your nude private photos. Somehow, I have a feeling the atmosphere here in Europe is much more relax when such topics are discussed. People don't react to topless women on the beach, FKK's exist, small children run around naked on the beaches..somehow ( I know it is not the topic, sorry for privatizing your spice), somehow it seems normal and I didn't even stopped reading your post till you made your explanation. Why should anyone need to explain his/her naked body in pictures?
I like the idea for a present, though :)

    1. Thank you so much for this comment! I feel very much the same way you do, and I think that there are a great many Americans who feel the same way. But there is also the very conservative side of U.S. society, and you never know when or where that Puritanical element will pop up in a person's reaction to something. :)

    2. I also think that the blogosphere, for lack of a better word, tends to be super conservative when it comes to their mindset about these things... in a way that I often find really weird. It's not like it's been a secret part of this blog how oyu and MC feel about one another. It's not, uh, new or anything, haha. But I have definitely seen a weird discomfort pop up now and then about how openly affectionate you two are in how you write about one another. Hm. THere's a sociological study in here somewhere.

Also, on-topic, I love the earrings :) Kitties forever.

    3. Ha! Discomfort. Bummer for them, I guess. Thanks for digging these earrings! It's always hard to resist any depiction of an animal in the world of accessories. Didn't you post some shark slippers once? So fundamentally delightful.

    4. YES. I am trying to justify the shark slippers to myself. We also found a pair of socks that are made to look like sharks are eating your legs. And that's a tough one to resist.

  4. Aside from those with a personal vendetta, masquerading as contributors to this "blogosphere," bitchers on this topic are insecure wankers and neo-cons. As you say, it is fun to piss them off. Indeed, they must enjoy being pissed off or they wouldn't make complaining their number one hobby. Everybody wins.

    1. Heh, that summary is a little extreme, Brandon, but I like where your head's at. ;)

  5. My pinup shoot that I did a few years ago for Day of the Dead was one of the most body positive days of my life; I imagine getting to do it semi-regularly would be awesome!

  6. i grew up for 8 years in switzerland (my mom is swiss) and have spent much time there since. i agree w zuba that conservative reactions to nudity love and sex are quite american and would not be found in europe. europeans are not "uncomfortalbe" hearing of sex love or relationships on a blog and wouldn't think its weird to remain loving and sexual once you are a parent. children must learn to become adults themselves one day and an example must be set for them to follow. i enjoy the blog http://rodeo.net/niotillfem which is run by a swedish girl. you can google translate it. she is typically european. very frank about sex and being in love. its part of life. she was even very candid on her heartbreak after a recent breakup. very refreshing.
