dressed up like a lady: Bohemian spring

Bohemian spring

70's-does-30's style sheer boho Dress: Asos
Waist cincher belt: Steve Madden
Ankle strap platforms: Miz Moos
70's Shearling coat: Vintage, gift from my in-laws
Jewelry: Mostly thrifted

I've got pals over in California who are talking about how it's already too hot for spring clothes. Ha! It's still so chilly here in Michigan, you'd think we live in a different hemisphere! Not that I'd complain too much about that (NZ is the shit, amirite?) but spring just takes a long time traverse these massive United States, I guess. I'm just excited that I could wear a dress this week without tights underneath.

There are so many influences that can interact as part of a person's style. Call me biased (I obviously am!), but the axis where rock and roll glam meets bohemian hippie is my favorite look on a woman. It is so perfect to photograph. Every time Cammila moves, a dress like this frames her body a little differently, and gives a different glimpse of her firm, distinct form underneath its gauzy exterior. -MC

  1. That shearling coat is EVERYTHING, and I love the movement/gypsy drape of the dress in the photos without it!

  3. I love the color on that dress. That is gorgeous; it's like a really nice deep fuschia, but not quite maroon. Lovely.

ALSO I would kill to live in Michigan right now, you don't even know. It's been ninety degrees for the past two days! Ninety! THAT IS TOO MANY DEGREES. You in that coat, it is just inconceivable to me. I've already had to turn the air on!

  4. This look is tres gorgeous on you!! I love this hippie-meets-diva look as well. Hippie garments + sexy attitude = win!!!

I got your last text just as I was leaving the gym so I hope I didn't leave you hanging. Tis a strange thing when a person is so self destructive right before your eyes. I can tell you from experience that in the end all that will matter is how hard you tried! Believe me when I say that all their parents motivations become clear to kids as they grow into teens and eventually adults. She will be so grateful to you for trying so hard to shield her from that terrible alienating feeling of adult drama. But I ache to think of the resentment she will form in the other direction. Her anger for the missed opportunity alone could last a lifetime! :(

    1. Thanks, Alana! I really lucked out with these ones, I was searching on ebay for this exact pair and actually found them! They were listed as "used" but they don't look like anybody even touched them. :)
